Facts about the image, Sunset over River Severn Bends by Buildwas Shropshire
The image Sunset over River Severn Bends by Buildwas Shropshire taken on a clear January afternoon looking into the sun, shows the orange sun reflecting in the part of the river furthest from camera position. A portion of the hedge abutting the fields has been included as an additional element at the corner of the picture as the sun has turned some frost covered grasses a bright shade of orange which complements the overall feel of the picture. The sheep seen grazing in the fields here are a common sight in the area although these fields are also often grazed by cattle.
These bends in the River Severn are typical of the meandering upper reaches of the river and are visible from the B4380 road between Ironbridge and Leighton in Shropshire, where there are two lay-bys allowing passing motorists the opportunity to stop and admire the view over River Severn Bends by Buildwas, Shropshire. Just a few days after taking this photograph the entire area was transformed by a blanket of snow whilst only a couple of weeks earlier the fields were flooded with the last rains of 2012 a last remaining pool of which remains to the left of the picture.
